International Rice Research Institute

Professor W. Paul Quick Paul leads the C4 rice team at IRRI and is Professor of Plant Physiology at the University of Sheffield in the UK.  His research focuses on plant photosynthesis and the partitioning of photosynthate into food end-products.

Dr Hsiang-Chun Lin Hsiang Chun is currently a postdoc at IRRI with Paul Quick. She gained a PhD in Plant Biochemistry from ETH in Switzerland, where she characterized sugar signalling pathways in Arabidopsis. Her role in the C4 rice project is to manage the verification of transgenic lines and to pyramid rice lines expressing C4 enzymes. She is also providing project partners with 13C labeled samples

for metabolic flux analyses.

Albert Chris de Luna Albert is currently a research assistant at IRRI with Paul Quick. Before joining IRRI he gained a Bachelors degree in Agriculture (majoring in Horticulture), from the University of the Philippines. His main role in the C4 rice project is to carry out genetic crossing of transgenic lines and to perform physiological analyses to measure photosynthetic efficiency.

Before joining IRRI she gained a Bachelors degree in Biology (majoring in Plant Biology), from the University of the Philippines. Her main role in the C4 rice project is to carry out molecular verification of transgenic lines and to determine the cellular localization of introduced proteins by immunolocalization.
